DIGITAL PLATFORMS AND PLATFORM SOLUTIONS IN FINANCIAL PRACTICES

Abstract

The platform revolution is a significant stage in the development of Industry 4.0 and the Finance 4.0 concept, one of the forms of digital transformation, a new objective reality that systemically modifies all aspects of the activities of economic agents. Over the past two decades, a large body of empirical experience has been accumulated worldwide in the field of platformization. In Russia, the trend towards platformization has been formalized at the country level in the current decade, which explains the growing interest in studying, understanding, and systematizing it in relation to various segments of the economy. The article focuses on the historical logic of the development of digital platforms: from the key stages of their technological formation, through reference points in the emergence of functionally specialized platforms, to the evolution and specific features of platform solutions in the BFSI segment (banking, financial, insurance, and similar services). This made it possible to develop a process diagram and a timeline to visualize the chronology and key stages in the formation and development of digital platforms in various segments of the economy, and above all, in financial digital platforms.
