Abstract

The study involves the development and testing of a methodology for identifying manipulative trading in the stock market based on statistical diagnostics of trading anomalies and indicators of possible price manipulation, suitable for the rapid selection of large arrays of stock exchange data without a training sample. The proposed tools were tested on minute data from the results of trading stock assets of Russian issuers with different levels of liquidity on the Moscow Exchange for 2023-2025. The proposed methodology for identifying facts of manipulation in the stock market, tested on a wide array of data, made it possible to identify anomalies characterized by a significant increase in the standard deviation of profitability with a decrease in the coefficient of variation and directional price pressure. The study demonstrated that the results of applying the developed approach are fully consistent with the results of the regulator’s monitoring.
