Scientific volunteering is a concept that is widely discussed both in the academic environment and in the media. At present, scientific volunteering is a rapidly developing area of knowledge management, which expands the involvement of a wide range of members of the public in the collection, processing of primary information necessary for scientific research and stimulates the social activity of citizens in the field of science. Since there is currently no single definition of the term "scientific volunteering", the formation of a discussion on the applicability of various conceptual definitions of the term "scientific volunteering" is crucial for the implementation of the strategy to increase the number and coverage of scientific volunteering programs in the Russian Federation. The main goal of the article is to create 25 conceptual definitions of the term "scientific volunteering", on the basis of which a single definition can be developed in the future. A secondary goal is to draw the attention of scientists and politicians to the need to form a universal definition of the term "scientific volunteering". To solve the tasks, the article presents 25 conceptual definitions of the term scientific volunteering, formed on the basis of the analysis of previously used definitions of the concept of "Citizen Science".
