FEATURES OF CORPORATE GOVERNANCE IN THE RUSSIAN FUEL AND ENERGY SECTOR: PROBLEMS AND WAYS OF IMPROVEMENT

Abstract

The article examines the characteristic features of the corporate governance system in the Russian fuel and energy complex, primarily in the oil and gas industry, and analyzes the main problems and challenges facing this area. Current trends are considered, including increased attention to the principles of ESG, and ongoing reforms in the field of corporate governance. Special attention is paid to finding ways to improve the management of oil and gas companies, from increasing transparency and protecting shareholders' rights to implementing the best international practices and considering the interests of the state and investors. Examples from the practice of Russian oil and gas companies are given, illustrating successful steps to improve the quality of corporate governance. Conclusions are drawn about the need for further development of the corporate governance system in the industry to ensure its sustainability and competitiveness.
