The geographical location of companies in the blue economy sectors underpins their exposure to disaster risks. As a result, the need for disaster risk financing instruments is growing, as the size and magnitude of the devastation caused by natural disasters has recently increased significantly. In the aftermath of a natural disaster, financial assistance is needed as soon as the local market is restored, and sometimes sooner, in order to stimulate the recovery of blue economy sectors. The use of adaptive financing mechanisms contributes to the development of innovative blue finance strategies, contributes to minimizing damage to the blue economy sectors both before and after natural disasters. Financing strategies based on adaptive finance stimulate the creation of blue financial products, and ensure an operational, sustainable flow of financing focused on the blue economy sectors. The flexibility of adaptive products and the ability to respond to changing market dynamics can also improve financial resilience. The author describes the tools for financing the risk of natural disasters and emphasizes the importance of using creative research strategies based on the analysis of disaster risks in the development of adaptive financial products focused on the sectors of the blue economy.
